Carinthia with its countless lakes, 2 national parks, stunning mountains and sunny climate is one of Austria’s most beautiful regions. Staying in the 4* Hotel Zanker in Döbriach right on the shores of Lake Millstatt we are offering you this 9 day ‘All Inclusive’ package just an hour away from Slovenia’s Lake Bled.

 

Tour Itinerary

           

Friday – Our luxury coach will depart this morning, and head to Folkestone where we will catch the Eurotunnel train to Calais, from there we make our way to our overnight hotel in Saarbrucken for our evening meal with comfort stops on route.

 

Saturday – We leave Germany and continue to Austria and our 4* hotel for the next 6 nights.

 

Sunday – A free day to relax and enjoy the hotel’s excellent facilities. In the afternoon we have arranged a panoramic boat trip on Lake Millstatt.

 

Monday – A full day today across the spectacular Grossglockner High Alpine Pass, passing through Austria’s highest peak with glacier views and unforgettable scenery.

 

Tuesday – Today we cross the border into Slovenia and head for the shores of beautiful Lake Bled. This morning we have included a boat trip to Bled Island. Above the surface of Bled Lake rises the only real island in Slovenia. In a glacier hollow there is what remains of an Ice Age limestone moraine covered with trees. We will bring you to the island by a special boat with a roof, called pletna. This boat, conducted by one rower with two oars, is known only in Bled. The island has several buildings, the main one being the pilgrimage church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary.  The church has a 52m (171ft.) tower and there is a Baroque stairway. The church is frequently visited, and weddings are held there regularly. Traditionally it is considered good luck for the groom to carry his bride up the steps on the day of their wedding before ringing the bell and making a wish inside the church! After some free time here, we take you back to the mainland for a free afternoon.

 

Wednesday – A leisure day exploring another of the Carinthian Lakes. We will take the route to visit Lake Worthersee with stops in Velden and then onto Klagenfurt which is the capital city of the southern Austrian province of Carinthia.

 

Thursday – Your second free day to relax in the hotel if you wish and make the most of your ‘All Inclusive’ package.

 

Friday – We leave Carinthia and make our way back to Germany and our overnight hotel, dinner on arrival.

 

Saturday – We leave Germany and make our way to Calais for our crossing, once back in the UK we continue back to Wiltshire after a memorable holiday.
