Join us for this fascinating tour exploring the nostalgic highlights of this area of North Wales including The Llangollen steam train, The Great Orme tramway, The classic Concorde tour, a 2hr canal boat ride over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the amazing Anderton boat lift! All these exciting excursions plus evening entertainment, a warm and friendly atmosphere and excellent dining on this fabulous 5-day holiday.

 

Tour Itinerary

 

Sunday – Our luxury coach will take us straight to our hotel on the Welsh borders with tea, coffee and Bara Brith served on our arrival while the porters tend to your luggage. Plenty of time to settle in before tonight’s dinner and entertainment. Comfort stops on route.

 

Monday – Wednesday – We include the following excursions.

 

The Classic Concorde tour based at Manchester airport. During this visit we learn about its famous passengers, sit in the pilot’s seat and discover some of the unique features that made BA’s flagship Concorde so special.

The Anderton Boat lift. This giant three-story high iron edifice on the banks of the River Weaver is a 50foot vertical link between the two navigable waterways. With its ‘Eiffel Tower’ type construction and its impressive use of hydraulic power. We will enjoy an amazing ride on the boat lift and learn about the technology from our captain with fascinating commentary throughout. Once raised to the Trent & Mersey canal the boat continues for a relaxing cruise taking in beautiful countryside and wildlife.

Llangollen Steam train for a morning return journey before an afternoon 2hr canal boat trip along a five mile stretch of the Llangollen canal, crossing the world famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct known as the ‘Stream in the Sky’

A Morning visit to Mold street market, one of the biggest and best in North Wales, followed by an afternoon in the sea-side resort of Llandudno where we will enjoy a ride on ‘The Great Orme’ tramway for amazing views of the town, and exhibition at the halfway station.

 

Thursday – We leave our hotel and begin our journey home stopping in Hereford for lunch before continuing back to Wiltshire and your waiting taxis.
